Introduction:-
A Zoo is an open place where living animals are kept for exhibition, study, and breeding So it is always exciting and entertaining for children to visit a zoo. Visiting the zoo opens an interesting way to see wild animals and birds. It is exciting not only for children but also for adults.
Date and Time of the Visit:-
I availed my visit to the state’s only zoo during my last Puja vacation. It was Sunday, the 12th of October, and I visited the zoo which is situated in Guwahati. I entered the zoo at 10 a.m. and walked about watching the various species of birds and animals till 3 p.m.
My companions:-
As it was my maiden visit to the ZOO, I was accompanied by my father along with two of my cousins who live in Guwahati. My father and the cousins had already visited the zoo several times. For that, I didn’t have to be bothered with my maiden visit to the zoo.
How we went:-
My father and I came to the house of my cousins the day before we visited the zoo. The next day i.e. 12th October, we started our journey to the zoo by a city bus. We boarded a bus at Dispur Super Market bus stop and alighted at the Zoo bus- stop at 9-45 am. It was a journey of only fifteen minutes. Then we bought the entry tickets and entered the Zoo at 10 a.m.
What we saw in the zoo:-
On entering the zoo, I was amazed to see the vastness of the area of the zoo. It seemed as if I had entered into a new kingdom.
First of all, we visited the Birds section. It was full of birds of various names and species and colors. Twittering and chirping of the birds deafened our ears. We saw the graceful Pelicans, lovely cranes, the swans, the peacocks, the peahens, the sparrows, the
nightingales, the ducks, the parrots, etc.
Next, we went to the Animals section where we saw tigers, lions, cheetahs, leopards, bears, rhinoceros, hippopotamuses, elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, stags, deer, horses, and many more. I was amazed to see all of them. I was afraid of the sharp teeth and claws of the tigers, cheetahs, and bears. But all of them looked beautiful.
Then we went to the Reptiles section. We saw the crocodiles lying like a log of wood, and a wide variety of snakes, and cobras. Finally, we saw the animals at the best attraction. They were monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, gorillas, etc. They were so amusing with their pranks and swinging tails. We kept on watching them for a long time.
Conclusion:-
We visited the entire zoo and it took us five hours to enjoy the whole scene of the vast zoo. We got out of the zoo at 3 p.m. with a rare experience and reached my cousins’ house by 3-30 p.m.
